Home Sweet Home.

Ahh, it’s finally over. I’ll tell you… The worst part about the surgery was waking up and having to wait until 3 o’clock to get it. I was so moody from not eating or drinking (COFFEE) since midnight. Hangry = not good.

The whole entire time I was in the hospital, I realized I really liked the nursing staff and everyone was genuinely nice and goofy. There was a Jamaican girl who made me laugh my butt off and a head nurse I immediately clicked with because we both (sadly) bell-trained our dogs to go “pee pee”.  Also, this view helped a lot.

Although I still had anxiety from staying in the hospital, the nursing staff definitely helped with it. Also, I was on intense medication and could barely keep my eyes open. I couldn’t sleep at night but I couldn’t tell you one thing on any show I attempted to watch. I was out there. The only thing I ate the first night was a bag of graham crackers and for the first time I didn’t get sick from the spinal anesthesia. I was on the verge of throwing up and the nurse quickly stuck nausea medicine into my IV and that was that. Phew.

Surprisingly, I managed to eat Otis Spunkmeyer cookies despite my stomach feeling terrible. I hate medication.

The pain from this surgery is definitely the worst of the six. I’m still pretty upset I’m going to have a huge scar on the side of my knee because, well, it’s not going to be pretty. Call me vain, but I’m really upset about it. Oh, and I have to wear this brace for four weeks. My surgeon laughed because I literally cannot lift it if I’m laying down. I need to build up my strength.

At least I’ll have body builder arms from crutching it around for four weeks, too. Might as well get a tattoo of an anchor and carry a can of spinach around with me ;-)

Oats, Banana, and Cashew Butter. YUM

And I missed this little guy like crazy.

Hurray, all done now and getting better every second (even though it won’t feel like it for a while!!) Well done for being brave Laura, we all knew how much you were dreading it.
You have all my sympathy for being stuck in the brace and having no strength! Chin up!
    Lots of love, Lyn x

  10. So glad to hear you are home lady~~Sorry about the huge scar, guess not everyone is like me. Id totally be stoked about having a scar like that lol My knee surgery was orthoscopic so I only have small scars. I was like “what I want a manly scar to show off!” haha Hang in there though!! Let the puppers give you snuggles till your all better :)

    • I think if this surgery actually works I’ll have a new appreciation for me scar but right now I’m just angry haha! I’m so used to surgeries not working but, in the end, this scar will mark the END of the roughest period of my life.
